To ensure the safety of the expressway users and providing protection to the frontline workers while carrying out their tasks on the mainline. 

The exercise will be conducted whenever there is any activity on the traffic lane where the frontline workers need protection whilst carrying out tasks such as lane closures and obstacle collection.

The duration of the entire exercise varies however it depends on the type of work that needs to be done. On average, it will take approximately between 15 minutes to 30 minutes of traffic standstill.

Safety vehicles exercise is conducted during the day time and night time as maintenance activities are carried out 24 hours a day. This depends on the site constraints and work requirements.

The distance is approximately 100 meters which would provide the workers time to react, should there be any breach of vehicles through the Safety Vehicles formation. These vehicles will pose a danger to the frontline workers.

Moving car- minimum 30.0 meters.

Stationary- minimum 5.0 meters.

The speed would gradually reduce from 80 km/h to 60km/h to 40km/h/ 20km/h and stop if required.

There are the one-ton lorries with safety features, 4WD pickup trucks with safety features and Impact Protection Vehicle (IPV).
